Engels Event Company Wedding Venue

Engels Event Company is an urban and sophisticated venue space that prides itself on being elegant and in the heart of downtown Aberdeen, SD. The building itself having been around since the 1920s, was first known as the "Firey Building", then the "Woolworth's Five and Dime" throughout the 30s and early 40s. It was then taken over by Art and Cal Engel in 1948 where it was commonly known today as "Engel's Music". Engels Event Company purchased the building once it closed down in early 2019, renovated the space, and was the first company in over 60+ years to move in and take over. Engels hosted their first event in this historic building January 30th, 2021. Just a few years later, Engels Event Company would get new owners who have now taken the mantle of hosting the event space!

This very intimate space allows hosting for about 250-300 people, so it's perfect not only for weddings, but award ceremonies, rehearsal dinners, bridal showers, baby showers, and even dinner theaters!

What's great about Engels Event Company is that they offer a wide range of services. Depending on your package, one can expect tables, chairs, ivory linen, microphone, projector screens, and all of those pieces set up and taken down for you. Engels Event Company also features a fully licensed bar, restrooms, bridal suite, and a small kitchen with a stove, prep tables, and some refrigeration. One can expect delicious food as Engels caters through their sister company: Aberdeen Catering Company!

Engels is perfect for the couple who wants their wedding to be a little more of a unique, intimate, and boutique experience right here in their hometown. The space is unique because it feels high-end, but you're still in the heart of historic downtown which can be incredibly important for those who love Aberdeen and its community. Couples can have the luxury of a simply elegant event space while also free to customize that space to fit their own personality with decor they bring in.

Couples can stylistically expect a vintage, 30s-40s, simply elegant venue. Historically, the exterior of the building showcases early 1920s Prairie styled architecture. The original owners of Engels Event Company were inspired to preserve the classic look of downtown while renovating the building to be an event space. One can see how the recent renovations to the front of the building compliment the attractive historic concrete detailing and dark red brick.

As we come to the interior, one can expect a warm and inviting space. The gorgeous glass chandeliers that line the ceiling give a naturally warm glow, and the flooring and pictures preserve the building's historic 20s era architecture. With the ballroom being neutral-ish, Engels chose to make the bridal suite a little louder more fun with the wallpaper to bring some glam, but pulled it together texture wise with the wood detailing.
